Lack Of Female/Minority Superheroes In Comics

Here’s a great article from Devin Faraci (@devincf) on badassdigest.com explaining why there is a massive lack of real female and/or minority superheroes in comics.

The article references a post from Kelly Sue DeConnick, the Marvel writer behind the current run of Captain Marvel starring former Ms. Marvel Carol Danvers.

Thank you for passing it on. Definitely going to make an effort to purchase more comics with real and interesting leading ladies & any minority characters.

Found the article from comicbookgirl19. She has an amazing YouTube show with some great videos for new readers, some in particular helping to catch up on recent event including last summers Avengers vs X-Men crossover. Check her out.

Haven’t the chance to read them in full tonight but looking forward to some of your posts from the perspective of a very new reader. Cant believe you’ve only just started your comic life. You look like you have tons of passion which is the most important thing in life.

So very glad you enjoyed it. Am fairly new to comics myself (coming up on a year now for me) and just starting to get into the community side of things. Its a very insular experience, but once the reading is done, the experience of sharing great stories and speculating on future ones with others who feel as passionately as you do is a rich and rewarding experience.
